In this project, I was challenged to create a visual metaphor for a medicine or remedy that is typically uncomfortable to talk about. I decided to design an advertising poster for Viagra, using a pencil as the metaphor. I used Illustrator and Photoshop to successfully complete the assignment. One of the major challenges I faced was color correcting and blending. Initially, I wanted to use Illustrator for the entire project, but I found that Photoshop worked best for color correcting the pencil, adding a proper shadow, and creating a spotlight effect. This project allowed me to explore different fonts and gain proficiency in Adobe products. I also researched the font typically used on #2 pencils, as well as simple fonts commonly used in posters to convey a favorable message (e.g., Helvetica).
